ABOUT Tay

Biography:

My name is Tay Doluisio and I am a beginner filmmaker, with an interest in documenting and creating media content focused on alternative lifestyles and various countercultures & subcultures. I am currently based in Denton, TX.

I was raised in the suburbs of Austin, TX, surrounded consistently by culture and art- never realizing that pursuing “the arts” was my dream and my passion in life.

I decided in 2019 to pursue a Criminal Justice degree, but then realized at about 75% through my schooling, that I wanted to shift into a more creative and expressive career, and that it wasn’t the correct fit for my trajectory. After the completion of my first degree and a rough year of rotating through different jobs, I decided to go back to school to pursue a second bachelor’s degree in Media Arts, where I am now thriving and living authentically as myself.

I am heavily inspired by various alternative, counterculture and subculture lifestyles and their storytelling and documentation. These include the works of Andy Warhol and the Factory, the documentary Paris is Burning by Jennie Livingston (1990), World of Wonder Productions and their works (RuPaul’s Drag Race (2009-Present) & Party Monster (2003), in particularly), various drag performers and clubs, Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), the works and creations of Nelson Sullivan, the 1980/90s NYC “Club Kid” culture (before its downfall), and even the grunge movement of the 1990s. The list could go on and on and on with my inspirations.
